| Jay Ryan is from Chicago, Illinois. Armed with a silkscreen, Jay prints layer after layer of beautiful color, funny little dudes and animals, and brilliant typography. His prints are part of the peripheral experience of the Chicago music scene, hanging on record store windows and club walls, turning an entire city into his own personal gallery. He has been making posters for the past nine years for a large number of bands, such as: The Black Heart Procession, Shellac, The Flaming Lips, Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire, Archer Prewitt, The Breeders, Fugazi, Built to Spill, Don Caballero, Low, Stereolab, and his own band, Dianogah. Jay has also created artwork for Punk Planet Magazine, Chicago's Reader, and a variety of clubs and labels in the Chicago area. He, along with Diana Sudyka and Mat Daly, began The Bird Machine studio, which is where the magic happens. Most recently Jay has further established his honor with the Hometapes clan by introducing Nick Butcher to us. What a sweetheart. Interview coming soon... |
